Finally the comfort zone is starting to set in. Spanish is still hard and it is still difficult and frustrating to communicate but most of the other students in my group took tonight as an opportunity to break loose a little.
We met our guide and other students at El Jarro after dinner. El Jarro faces Santiago’s monument and is an open air bar. In the back seating area there are trees growing out of the floor and on out of the roof. It has a definite Caribbean feel to it. Jasson, our guide, helped us to order drinks and ask for different types of music. He also encouraged us to dance and helped us all to feel comfortable. Twice they played “Yo Quero Una Americana” which, we danced too and laughed. There were a few other people at El Jarro who spoke English so we did some meet and greet as well as some dancing with people from Santiago. Along with getting a little time on facebook today those were the two highlights from today. Buenos Noches!
